How your pet is cared for after death is important to us.

Many pet owners choose to keep their pet’s cremated remains and will either scatter them or display them in an urn. Others may not choose to keep their pet’s remains but rather choose to keep a lock of hair or to have a clay or ceramic impression of their pet’s paw created. Other pet owners feel that their memories and photos will satisfy their needs for commemoration.

Gateway Pet Memorial is responsible for our pet cremation services and also provides the option of many additional memorial products such as urns, keepsakes, paw prints, and jewelry.  

We are confident in our relationship with Gateway Pet Memorial and their staff. Gateway Pet Memorial adheres to a strict code of ethics in all aspects of their operation and you can rest assured that your pet's remains will be treated with dignity and respect and that your cremation requests will be delivered accurately. 

What Aftercare Options are Available?

  • Private cremation provides you with the opportunity to keep your pet’s cremated remains as a permanent and personal keepsake. When you choose private cremation, your treasured pet will be the only pet in the cremation chamber during the cremation process. When the cremation process is complete, we ensure that you receive only the cremated remains of your pet.

    Cremated remains will be returned in a scatter tube, unless pet-owners have purchased an upgraded urn through Gateway’s ‘Lasting Memories’ online portal. You can find a number of additional keepsakes on Gateway’s portal such as paw prints, jewelry, and urns.

    When the process is complete, arrangements can be made to receive your pet’s cremated remains from Gateway Pet Memorial directly, or from the pet’s regular clinic.

  • With communal cremation, your cherished companion will be cremated alongside other beloved pets. When the cremation process is complete, the communal remains are collected and and interred at one of Gateway’s cemeteries nearest you. Since there are no cremated remains returned to you when you choose communal cremation, you may wish to consider purchasing a personalized paw print as a timeless remembrance.

    Pet families are welcome to visit the cemetery at which their pet’s cremated remains have been laid to rest. Please contact Gateway Pet Memorial for details.

  • If you choose to lay your pet to rest on your own private property, please verify the local regulations in your area. Our veterinarians do not provide assistance with burial preparations.

What to expect from the crematorium

Once the remains of your beloved pet have arrived at Gateway Pet Memorial, completion of the cremation process and delivery of cremains takes about 7-10 business days.  Many of the beautiful ceramic paw prints can take 4-6 weeks to complete and some custom orders may take longer than this.

Private cremation services with Peaceful Passing include cremated remains returned in a complimentary scattering tube.  You are welcome to upgrade to the urn of your choice through the online portal, to which we will give you access, at your request.
